When I was blogging with alphabets I had pored and pored over all the scraps of papers that I have collected in the last 25 years of my married life.
This is the time I discovered that some of the books that I have are unopened and unread. I know it’s a criminal waste but then I had made up my mind that I will be using them all.
The idea was catch hold of one book and make all the makeable (is that a word?) recipes.
So what better than Cooking from Cookbook Challenge
So I started with Cooking and more of Tarla Dalal. From this edition I have made Subzi and daal already but today’s target was Tilwale Aloo.
Wondering how my til got so big? For the person who does not know what til is its Sesame seeds.

The first I heard that Mrs. Tarla Dalal was no more I could not accept it. She is a personality who I considered immortal. But when the messages in the Blogging Marathon group kept pouring i had to believe it.
A lady, who when it was unheard of churned out books, TV shows and brought cooking from boring to “hey wow that is fantastic ” almost single handedly! A daunting task that she accomplished with panache that was unmatchable!!
So as a tribute we at the Blogging Marathon are posting today as a group.
If anyone ever thought themes blogging was easy try blogging with alphabets and themes!!
Everytime I think of a dish it’s like ha this is with the alphabet say “D” then it has to fit within the limits that have been set for the themes.
I do believe I have never pored over, yes pored over my recipes books and clippings as much I have in the last few months it’s like I am answering an exam!!
Here are my exam papers till now…
A- Aliva che ladoo
B- Baked potato
C -Chana cho ras
And now D
Some of the alphabets it’s easy but some it’s… like you have reached a brick wall!!
One such wall was for the alphabet “D”!
I kept on changing my mind again and again, nothing new here, but then I annoyed myself and felt like a dunce! Finally I decided to make “Drunkard’s Noodles.” No I have not d(r)unked them in alcohol!!
Irresistible Chocolate Cheesecake !!
Every month on the 15th the baking partners post a bake. The brainchild of Swati Iyer and an excellent baker she chooses some fantastic bakes.
Since joining this group I have tried out Shaped Bread Rolls, Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcake , Ultimate Chocolate Cream Cheese Cookies, The best Chocolate cake that I have ever tasted Reine de Saba avec Glaçage au Chocolat: Chocolate Almond Cake and now this month cheese cake.
Now every recipe I have read asks for cream cheese and since it is expensive in India and then there is no guarantee that I will use the entire tub I never ventured in the area. My daughter, the elder one this time (rolling my eyes) asked for cheese cake sometime ago. She is a sweet non-eater; even after she ate this cake she told me she liked the crust better than the cake. Mind you this was after they (both my daughters) had finished the cake.
Well it takes all kinds … anyway please do try this awesome cake and sink in a delightful bliss!! Diet ko maro goli yaar you do need a break!!
